What You Shouldn’t Do for SEO Inbound Links – Part I

Inbound Links SEO 300x300 What You Shouldn’t Do for SEO Inbound Links Part IInbound links are a big part of search engine optimization. However, inbound links can be abused rather easily. Some people might think doing this is a quick way to make their site skyrocket to the top of the search results. However, the opposite is true. Trying to manipulate inbound links can make it so a website is penalized heavily and it could even throw your site out of the rankings altogether. That’s definitely something you don’t want, especially if you invested considerable time on web marketing. This two-part series will discuss ways what you shouldn’t do for SEO inbound links and how to fix them if you’ve made a mistake

When a site has unnatural links pointing toward it, search engines will often send out message to the site owner notifying them of this. If it’s a one off thing, the site will likely get a warning and will be provided with information on how to remedy the situation. If it’s a chronic problem, however, the search engine will likely reduce the trusts of the entire site, which can cause it to plummet down the search engine rankings.

If it is clear that there are only a couple of spam like links, only those links will be punished and discredited, not the entire website. When website owners get messages like this, their initial reaction is to ignore them. After all, what’s the worst that could happen? However, having your entire site bumped from the search engine rankings is incredibly detrimental to the success of your business. If you get a message about SEO inbound links and that there’s a problem with them, pay attention to it. The future success of your website could hang in the balance here.

So, when you get a message like this, read it through carefully and see what type of message it is. This message can tell you directly what you shouldn’t be doing for your inbound links. For instance, you should never use page links, comment spam on blogs, over-the-top article directory submissions, link exchanges, and linkspam. All of these tactics raise red flags at the search engine as black hat and could result in poor rankings from now on. If you want to avoid messages like this from a search engine, don’t engage in these tactics. It’s just not worth it.

Always review everything that you’re sent about your SEO inbound links, and do everything within your power to remedy the situation. You have worked hard to build your website’s success. Keep it that way.
