Based on Bloomberg [2011-02-11] ‘Apple is working on a new version of the iPhone that are aimed at slowing the advance of competing handsets based on Google Inc.’s Android software, according to people who have been briefed on the plans.’
A new version of the phone will be about 30% smaller, will not have the Home button and will be less expensive than the iPhone 4. Apple might be selling the new iPhone for about $200.
The company has been planning to announce the new device in a few months. However, it might be either delayed or perhaps canceled.
In the forth quoter of 2010 Google’s share of global smartphone marker reached 32.9% and Apple’s share reached only 16%. Perhaps the new version of iPhone will be able to help Apple to dominate the smartphone market not only in the US but in the whole world. A cheaper version of the phone might be very popular in the countries such as China, India, and Russia.
